Shaw off to Washington for key meetings

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Audley Shaw, is now in Washington, DC to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The minister and his delegation are also attending the Annual Meeting of Finance Ministers of the Commonwealth that has on its agenda, innovation in digital technologies in public finance to boost economic development and job creation.

Shaw will address the Small States Forum and attend a Caribbean Group Breakfast with the IMF Managing Director. 

During the three-day visit, Shaw and Honourable Fayval Williams, the minister of state in the finance ministry will have a series of bilateral meetings with multilateral agencies and other investors interested in doing business with Jamaica.

On Saturday the Global Markets publication will award the Shaw as the Outstanding Finance Minister for the Caribbean for 2017.

Other members of the delegation include Brian Wynter, Bank of Jamaica Governor, Darlene Morrison, Acting Financial Secretary, Dr Wayne Henry, Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica along with the finance minister’s advisors Gerard Johnson and Hillary Robertson.
